Tachū Naitō

1886–1970

Born in Yamanashi Prefecture. Teaching at Waseda University, he proposed the theory of seismic shear walls and contributed to the development of earthquake-resistant structures in Japan.

He carried out the structural design of many steel towers, including Tokyo Tower, Nagoya TV Tower and the second Tsūtenkaku.
