Toyo Ito

1941–

Born in 1941. After working at Kiyonori Kikutake's office, he established his own practice. With the Sendai Mediatheque, composed of thin floors and wavering tubes, he renewed the relationship between structure and space in architecture.

He received the Pritzker Prize in 2013, and has produced a wide range of works, from public to commercial buildings, in Japan and abroad.
