Overview
A wooden drill hall that still rings its bell over a frontier city.
A wooden building erected in 1878 (Meiji 11) as the drill hall of Sapporo Agricultural College. A clock tower was added in 1881, and ever since it has told the time to the city of Sapporo.
A clapboarded Western-style building drawing on the styles of the American Midwest, it was designated a national Important Cultural Property in 1970.
